Hans Scheirl is a film-maker, painter and writer best known for the feature length cyber/splatter movie Dandy Dust (94min 1992-98).

Dandy Dust has toured the world, including screenings at Lesbian, Gay and Transgender Film Festivals in Berlin, London, Tokyo, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Prior to this, Hans co-directed Flaming Ears (84min 1992) with Ursula Purrer and Dietmar Schipek. These films were preceeded by forty six experimental shorts made between 1979 and 1992.

In addition to film-making Hans has worked on numerous fluxus art/performance/music events in Vienna and New York including collab- oratons with Unguenstige Vorzeichen; ‘8 or ‘9 and Arlen Schloss.

More recently Hans has contributed to the Brandon/Body of Evidence website project initiated by the Guggenheim Museum and screened at the Lux Gallery during the International Transgender Film and Video Festival (1999).

Hans’ work has been featured in numerous publications including The Eight Technologies of Otherness (Rledge 1997); Female Masculinity (Duke University Press 1998) and the forthcoming The Queer German Cinema (Stanford University Press 2000).

Hans Is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.

A split personality cyborg of fluid gender zooms through time to collect h-selves in the fight against a genealogical obsessed super-mother...

Inspired by Hong Kong and Japanese live-action comic-strips, splatter movies, queer underground, feminist and Viennese Aktionism, 'Dandy Dust' is a transgender noize / splatter / scifi / horror / comix feature film.
